Mersen's Amp-Trap A4BY, sold for years under the Ferraz Shawmut name, is a time-delay Class L fuse used in main and feeder positions on commercial and industrial services. At 1000 amps it often protects large motor control center feeders and the secondary side of mid-size transformers, where the fuse needs to ride through starting and magnetizing current but still limit fault energy. It is also rated for DC at 300 volts, which suits some UPS and rectifier installations.
