The A4BQ800 is an 800-amp Mersen (Ferraz Shawmut) Amp-Trap time-delay Class L fuse. It sits in one of the most common Class L ratings, often serving as the main fuse on 800A services and switchboards or on large feeders to motor control centers. Its 500-volt DC rating is unusually high for a Class L fuse and suits battery systems and DC drives, where many alternatives stop at 300 VDC. Like any Class L fuse it bolts into the holder, so a replacement takes a planned outage, which is a good reason to keep a spare in stock before one is needed. The time-delay element lets it carry transformer and motor inrush without nuisance opening.
