Semiconductor fuses exist for one job: opening fast enough to protect diodes, thyristors and IGBTs, which fail in milliseconds under fault current. The A50QS350-4 is Mersen's 500-volt Form 101 design, used in AC drives, DC drives, rectifiers, soft starters and UPS inverters. It's rated for both AC and DC at 500 volts, with 200 kA AC and 100 kA DC interrupting capacity. Replacement has to be exact: drive manufacturers specify the fuse by part number because its I²t and peak let-through are matched to the power devices it protects. A general-purpose fuse of the same amperage won't do the same job.
