What it is: a Bussmann RES-250 Super-Lag renewable fuse, rated 250 amps at 600 volts, Class H, with knife-blade terminals that fit 400A-size clips. Who needs it: facilities that still run renewable fuses in older switches and prefer to replace a failed fuse with the same part instead of converting the switch. What makes it renewable: after it interrupts an overload, the cartridge can be opened and fitted with a new renewal link. What to check: the 10 kA interrupting rating limits it to locations with low available fault current, and it won't install in Class R rejection clips. Availability: Bussmann has discontinued the RES line.
