This unit is sold reconditioned, inspected and tested to ESP Product Standards, and guaranteed to operate normally for one year from the date of sale.

This is an I-Line plug-in breaker, not a bolt-on. It lands on the I-Line bus stabs in a Square D I-Line panelboard or switchboard and will not mount in a bolt-on panelboard. The unit-mount equivalent at this rating is the LAL36400, which is a different catalog number.

The Square D L-frame is legacy product, replaced in current catalogs by the PowerPacT LJ series. ESP stocks tested reconditioned L-frame units for I-Line gear still in service.

More Details

The adjustable magnetic element runs from 2000 to 4000 amperes, and at a 400-amp rating that range is the deciding feature. Motor load needs instantaneous pickup set high enough to survive inrush and low enough to still catch a bolted fault, and a fixed-magnetic breaker cannot be tuned to do both. Watch the mounting. LA36400 is I-Line and LAL36400 is unit mount, one letter apart and not interchangeable in the panel. The PowerPacT LJ series is the current successor and does not retrofit an L-frame opening. Reconditioned, tested, one-year guarantee.
