Read the three digits after TFJ. They carry the frame class, the pole count and the voltage: this is 236 — 225-ampere frame, 3 poles, 600V. The 224, 226 and 236 variants share the same case and the same footprint, so the amperage tells nothing about which one are holding. The Y marks this unit as a molded case switch: it opens and closes under load but has no trip, and will not open on an overload or a fault. Protection must be provided by another device in the circuit.

GE F225-frame breakers and switches are discontinued by the manufacturer; the retrofit path is the Tmax XT series, which does not mount in an F225 opening. ESP stocks tested reconditioned TFJ units across the voltage, pole and amperage range.

More Details

Two hundred twenty-five amperes, three poles, 600 volts on the GE F225 frame, but this is a molded case switch, not a breaker. The Y in the catalog number is the switch designation: the device opens and closes the circuit under load and gives a positive disconnect point, with no overcurrent trip of any kind. Protection must come from another device in the circuit. Reconditioned, tested, one-year operational guarantee.

What is "surplus new"?

Surplus new means the item has never been installed or put into service. It may not arrive in its original packaging, but it has never been used.

What does "reconditioned" mean?

Reconditioned items have been inspected, cleaned, and tested to confirm they operate to the manufacturer's original specifications. Every reconditioned item we sell carries a one-year operational guarantee.

How fast will my order ship?
