Two things to settle before ordering. The LA trip unit is interchangeable, so the 250-ampere rating comes from the element rather than the 600-ampere frame — read the element. And terminals are not standard on this frame; contact ESP to confirm whether lugs are fitted. The frame-only catalog numbers in this family are LA3400F and LA3600F.

The Westinghouse LA frame is obsolete with no modern drop-in equivalent. ESP stocks tested reconditioned LA-frame units for legacy Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer panelboards and switchboards still in service.

The LA frame runs to 600 amperes and this one carries a 250-ampere element. Frame and rating are separate numbers here, which is worth knowing in two directions: the withstand is higher than the rating implies, and the catalog number alone does not tell what the breaker trips at. Interrupting capacity is 35 kA at 480 volts, above the LB frame at the same ratings. That is often why an LA was specified in the first place. Terminals were an ordering option rather than standard equipment, so lugs should be confirmed before the breaker arrives. Reconditioned, tested, one-year operational guarantee.
