The NM frame is rated to 1000 amperes and this unit carries a 500 A trip. Frame and trip are different numbers on this part, and the trip is interchangeable — read the element, not the case, when verifying the rating.

Federal Pacific and American NM-frame breakers are out of production with no modern drop-in equivalent. ESP stocks tested reconditioned units for FPE, American and Challenger switchboards still in service.

The NM frame handles up to 1000 amperes, and this one is built with a 500-amp trip. That distinction shows up in coordination work, where the frame size sets the withstand and the trip element sets the pickup, and it also shows up when someone orders by frame and receives a rating they did not expect. Load-side lugs come with the breaker. The matching lug kit for this range is the NM36, covering 3/0 through 600 MCM. Federal Pacific stopped building these, and nothing currently manufactured drops into an NM opening. The installed base is maintained with tested originals. Reconditioned, one-year operational guarantee.
