Small renewable fuses like the RFS15 are still found in older 600-volt control circuits, lighting disconnects and combination starters, where they protect control transformers and small branch loads. The RFS is Ferraz Shawmut's fast-acting renewable Class H design, now sold under the Mersen name. It has no intentional time delay, so it isn't meant for motor starting duty; for motor circuits a dual-element fuse is the better fit. When the fuse opens, the ferrule cartridge can be renewed with a replacement link. The interrupting rating is 10 kA, typical of Class H, and the fuse fits standard 30A-size 600V ferrule clips.
