Feed-thru, not I-Line. The KAL mounts as a unit with lugs at both ends. The I-Line plug-on version at this rating is KA36225 — same K frame, same 225-ampere rating, different catalog number, and it will not land in a bolt-on panelboard or the reverse. Shunt-trip variants of this breaker carry a -1021 or -1037 suffix.

The Square D K-frame is legacy product, crossed to the PowerPacT J-Frame in current catalogs. ESP stocks other K-frame variants including shunt-trip equipped units.

Lugs at both ends is the distinction. A feed-thru breaker sits mid-run rather than plugging onto bus stabs, which is why these appear in switchboards where the layout ruled out an I-Line device. The trap is the sibling. KA36225 is the I-Line version at the same rating, one letter away and not interchangeable in the panel. Check which one the gear takes. The magnetic element is adjustable. Shunt-trip versions of this breaker exist under -1021 and -1037 suffixes if remote tripping is what the position needs. Reconditioned, tested, one-year operational guarantee.
