The TKMA frame accepts interchangeable TKMA3T-series trip units, so the breaker can be re-rated in the field rather than replaced. Shunt trips, undervoltage releases, and auxiliary switches are available for this frame. For a higher interrupting rating at the same amperage, the equivalent part is the THKMA.

The GE TKMA31200 is a three-pole K-frame molded case circuit breaker on the K1200 line, rated 1200 amperes at 240, 480, and 600 volts AC. Interrupting capacity is 42 kA at 240V, 30 kA at 480V, and 22 kA at 600V — standard interrupting capacity; the THKMA is the higher-rated equivalent for installations with greater available fault current.

Protection is thermal-magnetic with long-time and instantaneous (LI) trip functions. The trip unit is interchangeable, from the TKMA3T series, with an adjustable magnetic element — the breaker can be re-rated in the field by changing the trip unit rather than replacing the whole device, which matters at this ampacity. Shunt trips, undervoltage release mechanisms, and auxiliary switches are available for the frame.

Bolt-on mounting with load-side lug terminals, calibrated at 40°C. Suited to main and large feeder positions in industrial and commercial distribution. Ships freight or heavyweight parcel due to size and weight.
