This unit is sold reconditioned, inspected and tested to ESP Product Standards, and guaranteed to operate normally for one year from the date of sale.

JA is the standard-interrupting J-frame. It clears 22 kA at 480 volts where the JD at the same 225-ampere rating clears 35 kA. The two mount the same way and look much alike, so a coordination study that specifies the higher figure is not satisfied by this catalog number. Check the rating, not just the amperage.

The Westinghouse JA frame is obsolete, superseded by the Eaton Series C JD which does not fit a JA opening. ESP stocks tested reconditioned J-frame units for legacy Westinghouse panelboards, switchboards and motor control centers.

There are several J-frames at 225 amperes and they are not the same breaker. JA clears 22 kA at 480 volts, JD clears 35 kA, HJD sits higher again. Same mounting, similar case, very different fault performance. That makes the catalog number the specification rather than the amperage. A panel designed around a JA takes a JA; a study calling for 35 kA does not. The magnetic element is adjustable, which is useful on motor feeders where inrush and fault current sit close together. Eaton's Series C JD replaced the frame and will not fit the opening. Reconditioned, tested, one-year operational guarantee.
