Both have a case.

Zinsco was founded in Los Angeles in the 1930s and the line passed through GTE Sylvania, Challenger and Thomas & Betts before going out of production. Catalog numbers appear under all of those brands and the breakers are the same devices. ESP stocks tested original units for Zinsco and Sylvania load centers still in service.

Zinsco panels are still in service in thousands of homes and light-commercial buildings, and the original breakers stopped being made decades ago. Two things are available today. Connecticut Electric's UBIZ line is newly manufactured by a third party and ETL listed as a compatible replacement. This is the other option: an original unit, made for this panel, individually tested to confirm it trips before it ships. The line passed through GTE Sylvania, Challenger and Thomas & Betts, so the same breaker turns up under several brand names. They are the same device. One-year operational guarantee.
