This is an original Wadsworth breaker — the part the load center was built around — inspected and tested to ESP Product Standards, individually tested to confirm it trips before it ships, and backed by a one-year operational guarantee. Connecticut Electric makes new UBIA-series replacements for the Wadsworth Type A range, ETL listed to UL 489 at 10,000 AIC, as compatible replacements rather than original parts. Both have a case.

Type A is the 1-inch plug-in line. Wadsworth load centers take Type A breakers in a specific width, and the catalog number carries the pole count: a two-digit number like A30NI is single-pole, while a three-digit one like A230NI is two-pole thirty-ampere. This is the 1-pole, 40-ampere unit. Ten thousand AIC, HACR rated, 120/240 volts.

Wadsworth Electric of Covington, Kentucky stopped making load centers and breakers decades ago. Type A is the 1-inch plug-in residential line and it remains in service in a great many older homes. ESP stocks tested original Type A units across the range.

Connecticut Electric's UBIA line is newly manufactured and ETL listed as a compatible replacement. This is the other option: an original Wadsworth unit, made for this load center, individually tested to confirm it trips before it ships. The catalog number carries the pole count. A two-digit number is single-pole; a three-digit one puts the poles in the first digit. Ten thousand AIC, HACR rated, 1-inch plug-in. One-year operational guarantee.
