Note the shunt trip. The ST suffix denotes a factory-installed shunt trip, which opens the breaker on a signal from a remote contact — emergency power-off, fire alarm interlock, elevator recall, remote shutdown. The coil is fitted at the factory and cannot be added to a plain CH315 in the field. Confirm the coil voltage from the unit before ordering.

More Details

The ST suffix is what separates this from the three hundred and eighty-two plain CH315s on the next shelf. A shunt trip coil lets a control circuit open the breaker: an EPO mushroom head in an equipment room, a fire alarm relay, an elevator recall contact on a sprinklered hoistway. Most of those are inspected items, which is why the part gets specified and why a failed one has to be replaced with the same catalog number rather than a plain breaker plus an accessory. Eaton fits the coil at the factory and there is no field retrofit for the CH frame. Two units here, tested for overcurrent trip on all three poles and for shunt operation.

What is "surplus new"?

Surplus new means the item has never been installed or put into service. It may not arrive in its original packaging, but it has never been used.

What does "reconditioned" mean?

Reconditioned items have been inspected, cleaned, and tested to confirm they operate to the manufacturer's original specifications. Every reconditioned item we sell carries a one-year operational guarantee.
