This is an I-Line plug-in breaker, not a bolt-on. It lands on the I-Line bus stabs in a Square D I-Line panelboard or switchboard and will not mount in a bolt-on panelboard. The H in LH is the high-interrupting rating. The standard-interrupting equivalent is the LA36250 at 30 kA / 480V; the two are physically interchangeable, so where a study calls for 35 kA the catalog number has to be verified rather than assumed.

The Square D L-frame is legacy product. ESP stocks tested reconditioned high-interrupting L-frame units for I-Line gear still in service, backed by a one-year operational guarantee.

The single letter in this catalog number is doing most of the work. An LH36250 and an LA36250 are the same size, mount in the same I-Line panelboard and carry the same 250-ampere rating, but the LH interrupts 35 kA at 480 volts against the LA's 30 kA. On a service where available fault current sits between those two figures, only one of them is code-compliant. That matters because the substitution is easy to make by accident and impossible to see once the cover is on. Push-To-Trip allows manual tripping without exposure to live parts, and Visi-Trip shows at a glance whether the breaker opened on a fault or was switched.
