Feed-thru, not I-Line. The LAL mounts as a unit with lugs at both ends. The I-Line plug-on version at this rating is LA36250 — same frame, same rating, different catalog number, and it will not land in a bolt-on panelboard or vice versa. Check which one the panel takes before ordering.

The Square D L-frame is legacy product, replaced in current catalogs by the PowerPacT LJ series, which does not retrofit an L-frame opening. ESP stocks tested reconditioned L-frame units for panelboards and switchboards still in service.

More Details

Lugs at both ends is the whole distinction. A feed-thru breaker sits mid-run rather than at the end of a bus, which is why these turn up in older switchboards where the layout ruled out a plug-on device. The trap is the sibling. LA36250 is the I-Line version at the same 250-ampere rating, one letter away and not interchangeable in the panel. The magnetic element is adjustable, which matters wherever motor inrush and fault current sit close together. Reconditioned, one-year operational guarantee.
