This is a bolt-on unit mount breaker, not an I-Line plug-in. The P in KAP is what marks it as the unit-mount version; the I-Line plug-on breaker at the same 125-ampere K-frame rating is KA36125, a different catalog number that will not mount in a bolt-on panelboard. Check which one the gear takes before ordering.

Discontinued by Square D and crossed to the PowerPacT J-Frame in current catalogs, which requires a panel change rather than a swap. ESP holds new stock of the original.

More Details

One letter decides whether this breaker fits. KAP is unit mount with bolts; KA is I-Line with stabs. Same K frame, same 125-ampere rating, same physical size, and no way to make one land where the other belongs. The magnetic element adjusts from 650 to 1250 amperes, which is a useful range at this rating where a fixed setting would either nuisance-trip on inrush or sit too high to see a fault. Square D crossed the K frame to the PowerPacT J-Frame, which needs new gear rather than a swap. Sold new with a one-year operational guarantee.
