This device provides no overload protection. The A in an EF catalog number is the instantaneous-only trip designation - Electrical.com describes the EF3A series as motor circuit protectors, magnetic only. It supplies short-circuit protection in a combination motor controller and relies on a starter and overload relay for everything slower. It is not a branch-circuit breaker. The ampere figure tracks the motor, not the trip point; the adjustable magnetic pickup is what opens the circuit.

The ITE EF frame is obsolete and fits older ITE panelboards including the FC-1. Siemens absorbed the ITE line and has no drop-in successor. ESP stocks tested reconditioned EF units across the range.

Ten amperes on the EF frame - a small motor size rather than a branch rating. Fourteen kiloamperes at 480 volts, load side lugs, bolt-on. Fits older ITE FC-1 panelboards.
