This is a frame, not a complete breaker. It carries the interrupting rating and the footprint and does nothing about overcurrent until a trip unit is installed. GE built the J600 line this way deliberately: one frame, a catalogue of interchangeable elements from 250 to 600 amperes, and the rating chosen at installation. Specify the trip unit need.

GE has announced end of life for the J600 thermal-magnetic line. ESP stocks tested reconditioned J600 frames, trip units and complete breakers.

More Details

A frame without a trip unit is a mechanism, a set of contacts and an interrupting rating. It protects nothing until an element goes in, and that was the design intent rather than an oversight. GE sold the J600 frame once and let the rating move with the load. The frame is the harder half to find. This is the 600-ampere frame class in 2 poles. Trip units run TJK636T250 through TJK636T600. Reconditioned, tested, one-year operational guarantee.
