TJK and TJJ are not the same breaker. They share the J600 frame, the footprint and the interrupting ratings, but the TJK takes an interchangeable trip unit while the TJJ is fixed. On this TJK the 200-ampere rating belongs to the element, not the case, so read the trip unit when matching a replacement. Terminals also vary: the base catalog number is load-lug-only and the WL suffix adds line-side lugs.

GE has announced end of life for the J600 thermal-magnetic line. ESP stocks tested reconditioned J600 breakers, frames and trip units for GE panelboards and switchboards still in service.

More Details

GE built two J-frame families that look identical and behave differently. TJJ is fixed: the rating is set at the factory and stays there. TJK takes an interchangeable element, so the same case can protect a 200-amp feeder today and something else after a retrofit. This is the TJK, which means the number on the label belongs to the trip unit. On a surplus breaker the case and the element have separate histories, so read the element. Both clear 30 kA at 480 volts and 20 kA on 500-volt DC, which is unusual enough in a molded case device to matter where DC is in play. GE has put the thermal-magnetic J600 line into end of life. Reconditioned, tested, one-year operational guarantee.
