This is the full-protection version. The T in the catalog number is GE's trip-function code for LSI — long-time, short-time and instantaneous. The SFHA36AI0250 variant, with an I instead of a T, is a Mag-Break motor circuit protector with instantaneous protection only and no overload element. One letter, two very different devices. It also needs a rating plug. The ampere setting comes from a field-installable front-mounted SRPF250A70 plug, and the base catalog number ships without one. The 250 in the catalog number is the sensor rating, which caps what the plug can be set to.

Superseded by the ABB Tmax XT series with a retrofit kit. ESP stocks tested reconditioned Spectra RMS units across the SE150 and SF250 frames and can advise on rating plugs.

Two hundred fifty amperes of sensor in GE's SF250 frame, with an electronic LSI trip and digital RMS sensing. Three things decide what this device actually is. The sensor caps the rating at 250 amperes. The rating plug sets it anywhere below that, and the base catalog number ships without one. And the third letter sets the fault rating - SFH clears 35 kA at 480 volts where SFL clears 65 and SFP clears 100. This unit has no rating plug fitted, and comes with a factory shunt trip and auxiliary switch. ESP stocks other SF250 variants including the magnetic-only SFLA.
