Four catalog numbers, one breaker. The third digit in an NEF number is a factory variant rather than a rating - NEF421020 is the same device as NEF423020, NEF425020 and NEF427020. The second digit is the pole count and the last three are the amperage. The NEF range is 480 volts throughout, clearing 14 kA at 480 and 18 kA at 240.

Federal Pacific NEF-frame breakers are out of production. Connecticut Electric UBIF-series units are sold as verified substitutes for some ratings. ESP stocks tested original NEF units for legacy FPE and American panelboards.
