Why HFD costs more. The H prefix denotes high interrupting capacity: 100 kA at 240 volts, 65 kA at 480 and 25 kA at 600, against the 18/14 kA of the standard F-frame EH and FD lines. It is specified where a fault study puts the available current beyond what a standard breaker can safely interrupt, and a standard F-frame device of the same rating is not a substitute. Nothing on the handle records which one is installed, so it should be confirmed before a panel is repopulated.

More Details

This is the one bolt-on unit in the group. Where the L-suffix HFD breakers are supplied feed-thru with line and load side lugs, the base catalog number bolts directly to the panelboard bus — electrically identical, mechanically not interchangeable, and should be checked before ordering either way. At thirty amps and three poles it covers three-phase motor and packaged-equipment branches, with the high interrupting capacity that distinguishes the HFD line from the standard F-frame. Tested for trip function on all three poles and covered by the ESP one-year operational guarantee.

What is "surplus new"?

Surplus new means the item has never been installed or put into service. It may not arrive in its original packaging, but it has never been used.

What does "reconditioned" mean?

Reconditioned items have been inspected, cleaned, and tested to confirm they operate to the manufacturer's original specifications. Every reconditioned item we sell carries a one-year operational guarantee.

How fast will my order ship?

In-stock orders placed before 12pm PST usually ship the same business day via UPS, with tracking provided.
