Protection is thermal-magnetic: a bimetal element answers sustained overload, a magnetic element answers short circuits within the first half cycle. On a three-pole device an overcurrent on any pole opens all of them together through a common trip bar. That independence is why a breaker holding steady under load can still clear a bolted fault, and why testing checks both rather than the thermal curve alone. At 25 amps the usual service is small three-phase equipment between the twenty and thirty amp steps. Tested and guaranteed for one year. Panel schedules go missing far more often than breakers fail, so it is worth recording the catalog number somewhere durable once this one is installed.
