Protection is thermal-magnetic: a bimetal element answers sustained overload and a magnetic element clears short circuits within the first half cycle, with Visi-Trip indication on the face showing which device operated. An overcurrent on any pole opens all 3 together through a common trip bar. At 225 amps the usual service is three-phase subfeeds, panelboard mains and large packaged equipment. Plug-on to Square D panelboards, reconditioned and individually tested rather than pulled and resold untested. Freight on molded-case devices is weight-driven, so ESP quotes shipping against the whole order rather than per line.
