More Details

Protection is thermal-magnetic: a bimetal element answers sustained overload, a magnetic element clears short circuits within the first half cycle. An overcurrent on any pole opens all 3 together through a common trip bar. The two mechanisms work independently, which is why a breaker holding steady under load can still fail to clear a bolted fault, and why testing checks both rather than the thermal curve alone. At 100 amps the usual service is three-phase subfeeds and panelboard mains. The BAB line is also switching-duty rated, which matters on 120-volt fluorescent lighting circuits — a duty rating that a general-purpose breaker of the same ampere rating does not necessarily carry.

What is "surplus new"?

Surplus new means the item has never been installed or put into service. It may not arrive in its original packaging, but it has never been used.

What does "reconditioned" mean?

Reconditioned items have been inspected, cleaned, and tested to confirm they operate to the manufacturer's original specifications. Every reconditioned item we sell carries a one-year operational guarantee.
