Switching neutral — not an ordinary three-pole. On the BAB-C the third pole switches the grounded conductor rather than protecting a third ungrounded phase, so operating the breaker opens all grounded and ungrounded conductors together. It is not a substitute for a BAB3020H on a three-phase branch, and a BAB3020H is not a substitute for it. Confirm the pole arrangement against the unit before ordering.

More Details

Switching-neutral breakers solve a narrow problem: circuits where the grounded conductor has to open along with the ungrounded ones, so nothing downstream stays referenced to the system when the breaker is off. The BAB-C puts that switching pole in a standard Quicklag bolt-on body for Pow-R-Line panelboards, which is why it looks like an ordinary three-pole on the panel front and behaves quite differently behind it. Each has been tested for trip function on the protected poles and for continuity through the neutral pole. Read the ordering note below before substituting it for, or with, a conventional three-pole breaker.
